Socio-medical support for the sexual and reproductive health of women with disabilities

July 2016 - July 2019

Through the Noor Centre, the AMH Group and a team of specialists launch a programme of medical and social support for sexual and reproductive health of women with disabilities.

OBJECTIVES

IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF MEDICAL CARE
Encourage a holistic approach to the sexual and reproductive health of women with disabilities within the Noor Centre.

CONTEXT

There is a genuine lack of recognition of the sexual and reproductive rights and needs of Women with Disabilities (FSH). There are no structures that provide such women with appropriate gynecological consultation and no nursing staff trained in issues related to pregnancy and maternal physical disability.

OUR APPROACH

The project contains three main components :

  • A gynecological and obstetric consultation service adapted to women with disabilities.
  • A support group and workshops on emotional education for women and teenagers with disabilities.
  • continuing education for obstetricians and midwives with a specialisation in physical disability.
